50 Years of Elastmetall: Official Ceremony with Minister of Economic Affairs Olaf Lies

Damme/Osnabrück, Germany, June 10, 2017. 50 years of Elastmetall: The company marked its anniversary with an official ceremony in Osnabrück on Friday, June 9th. Minister of Economic Affairs, Labor, and Transportation for Lower Saxony Olaf Lies held a speech for more than 200 invited guests from the fields of politics and business, including company founder Christian Peter Ulderup and a 20-person delegation from China.

Everyone should be proud of the company’s success story, emphasized Minister Lies, pointing out that Elastmetall – originally founded in 1967 – has grown into an international company with a strong reputation in the automobile industry, now operating under the name BOGE Rubber & Plastics Group. The minister also highlighted the fact that the Chinese owners and the company decided to travel this path together: CEO of BOGE Rubber & Plastics, Dr. Torsten Bremer, played a decisive role in shaping the company’s trajectory and will continue to successfully guide BOGE Rubber & Plastics as it makes further inroads into the automobile industry in the future, Lies said. The minister praised the trust and commitment of the Chinese representatives without whom, he said, the company’s success story might have taken a very different direction.

Zhongxiang Xu, Vice President of Chinese parent company China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation (CRRC), the world’s largest manufacturer of rail vehicles and accessories for the rail industry, announced that CRRC would support BOGE Rubber & Plastics in its efforts to develop innovative technologies and break into new markets – so that its success story can continue for another 50 years. Xu highlighted the fact that BOGE Elastmetall has always broken new ground in the market with its innovative spirit and impressive drive, and CRRC is very proud and honored to have the company as part of its family. The employees in Damme, he said, carry over five decades of innovative spirit in their genes.

Dr. Torsten Bremer, CEO of BOGE Rubber & Plastics, was also pleased about the positive developments: “In the last five decades, our company has developed into a global player with nearly 4,000 employees. We plan to continue consistently driving our international growth, and we will support the industry’s transition to electric vehicles with our innovative products. This all requires a great deal of creativity, the courage to face change, and capital investments by our owners – so we are well on our way.”

50 Years of Elastmetall: On April 28, 1967, entrepreneur Dr. Jürgen Ulderup and his son Christian Peter Ulderup founded Elastmetall Damme GmbH. The company operates under the auspices of BOGE Rubber & Plastics today. The corporate group headquartered in Damme is one of the world’s leading providers of vibration technologies and plastics products for the automobile industry. The site in Damme alone employs more than 1,000 people, who generate over €280 million in sales revenue every year.
