Summary

SUMMARY:       

Under the general supervision of the Purchasing Manager coordinates all supplier quoting activities directly affecting product performance and compliance to design and customer requirements.  This role plays an integral part in the growth, performance and development of BOGE Rubber & Plastics USA, LLC.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  1. Analyze technical data, designs, preliminary specifications, manufacturing methods & limitations, supplier facilities and availability of parts and equipment.
  2. Perform market research and monitor changes/trends for purposes of benchmarking and cost controlling.
  3. Team with Corporate Quality to evaluate/develop suppliers through Rubber & Plastics Division’s procedures, audits, and plant visits.
  4. Prepare RFQ’s. (Requests for Quotation) in coordination with Sales & Engineering team and distributes to selected suppliers for part and tooling costs.
  5. Track costs and status of negotiation during RFQ phase.
  6. Recommend suppliers to the Purchasing Manager and Sales & Engineering teams for approval and sourcing.
  7. Analyze supply base to prepare and recommend suppliers to be added/removed from the potential/approved supplier list as well as nominate suppliers for the Strategic Supplier List.
  8. Lead and coordinate tooling purchase and develop schedule. 
  9. Review and/or issue Engineering Change Requests (ECR’s) with Sales, Design, Engineering and Purchasing Department.
  10. Responsible to act as liaison with Sales & Engineering, Purchasing, Program Management and Accounting Department .
  11. Analyze cost structure of the new and production components.
  12. Team with Supplier Development Engineers and supplier to coordinate projects for manufacturing process optimization in new and production components.
  13. Develop sound cost benchmarking for production components to develop cost model & database.
  14. Responsible for qualifying potential suppliers to one of the acceptable quality system standards for BOGE Rubber & Plastics USA, LLC (TS16949).
  15. Travel, possibly to include extended visits to suppliers and/or customers both in the United States and/or foreign countries, as required.
  16. Support Engineering team with prototype purchase orders.
  17. Track and report supplier responsiveness on RFQs and other KPIs as needed.
  18. Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Four year business or technical degree is required. Candidate must be familiar with core business manufacturing processes.
